Choosing The Right Poultry Equipment for Your Layer Egg-Broiler-Pullet Rearing & Breeding House

There are some details about choosing the right equipment for your poultry. I will try to describe and share some important points to choose the right equipment to install the right equipment for your poultry house.

The most major section of a poultry house is the ventilation system that you use for the animal comfort and welfare issue. Lot of brands, control panel and fan types are on the market. You may choose a standart fan system with belt or with direct drive fan system. Cost and you experience level is also important for you investment to make a choice. Pad cooling system is connected to the control panel and works with heat sensors. 

To control the fans, inlets, pad papers and heating system, control panel and software is also a serious. Esspecially the software is developed in many years via vets on field experience.

For the feeding system we divide in 2 types for cage or aviary house; cart feeding and chain feeding. For small capacity houses i would suggest cart feeding with a bird number of 20K and 50K birds.The cart will move round 5 times forwards and backwards with a feed adjusting device on the mouth of the cart.

Chain feeding is a bit expensive due the carbon steel material and should work for a very long time period without any maintence cost and time and the feed distribution is very precise according to feed cart. That is why the pullet or one day chick houses use chain feeding.

Air inlet is preffered a width and long size model with a high level of R value for heat isolation with a tight open-close mechanism. Also the cover design is import to take fresh air to the bottom of the house.

Lighting seems to be unimportant but actually it is one of the serious parameter to house management and high efficiency. Led bulbs with non flicker type and a control unit AC or DC voltage are 2 options you may choose. AC voltage dimmer is more vulnerable, you may burn the cards, DC has more cost but it has a long life time and a stable voltage worktime. For egg production 2700-3000 Kelvin - warm white  bulbs and for broiler-meat production 5000 Kelvin snow white led bulbs are prefered. Led tubes are also a good choice for a long life time and good light distribution. It has an effect on stress, feed digestion, sleep and awake state, healt, welfare issues and many more that i forget to write.

Drinking lines with nippels also need to be the right nipple. For instence for small birds like pullets there are loose nippels and for broilers-big one nipples are more hard to push and drink with their beaks. Water meter is also suggested to install for each line.

Collecting system for egg collection layer houses has 2 types. Lift type for small houses, collect eggs from each tier one by one. Niagara or elevator system is collecting eggs from every tier at once for big houses like minimum 75K-100K bird capacity.
